AutoTech Effect 2022– Spectrum Automotive Holdings: The Modern Dealership Experience

During our AutoTech Effect Episode with Spectrum Automotive Holdings, we spoke with Jim Polley, CEO & Founder, to discuss the use of technology to provide a more modern dealership experience to consumers.
What is your focus as a CEO to meet the modern needs of consumers?
Polley states that as the business continues to grow, technology becomes a much bigger aspect of its success. Businesses today need to stay up to speed with the most recent technology or they will fall behind. During COVID-19, the entire country rebounded by transitioning over to virtual meetings. Spectrum Automotive Holdings found that a digital business model proved to not only be imperative for communication and training, but also a more efficient means of overall business practices.
How are automotive sales evolving digitally?
Polley wants to ensure they are successful in this evolving digital world and discusses utilizing digital training and online sales to sell their products and services to dealers. Cars are scarce, so people are shopping in a different way. Customers are buying cars online and having them shipped to their homes. Consumers are becoming more educated on the products they want before they purchase. Dealers will have to refine their processes in order to meet the needs of consumers.
How are you preparing to sell and service electric vehicles (EVs)?
Polley has put a large focus on EV charging solutions for dealerships, commercial buildings, and homes. He wants to start building out the charging framework to provide options to dealers for the end consumer. Polley wants to make it simple for the consumer to buy and for dealers to provide a seamless solution. By 2030, Polley believes we will have adopted a significant number of EVs and it will be a new way of life. In the meantime, he states it’s essential to provide specialized training on this new product, in preparedness for the transition into EVs.
